Digital Character & Virtual Fashion Design
Create original digital characters, virtual personas and future-facing looks across character systems, digital worlds and motion.
TRACK INTRODUCTION
Track introduction
This new track focuses on virtual and digital characters, game or animation characters, virtual idols, AI-era digital personas and future-facing fashion styling.
Develop an original virtual or digital character through styling concepts, clothing and accessories systems, a character story, application scenarios and visual presentation, with room to explore digital painting, 3D modelling, rendering and motion.
The track emphasises original character development, fashion styling logic and visual communication potential.
PRELIMINARY ROUND
Preliminary submission requirements
Track-specific materials
- 01
Submit an original virtual or digital character concept.
- 02
Include inspiration, a character backstory and profile, styling design drafts, and a dynamic or application-scenario presentation or related notes.
- 03
Video animation is not required in the preliminary round.
Requirements for every track
Preliminary submissions are completed online. Work descriptions may be in Chinese or English.

The work must be original and created by the student.
- 02
Organise the principal work materials into one PDF of no more than 30 pages.
- 03
Submit the principal work as PDF. Each file must be under 80MB, with up to 3 files. Supplementary video must be MP4 or MOV and no longer than 3 minutes.
- 04
Retain high-resolution files, sketches, layers, model files or process records for any originality check.
FINAL ROUND
Final submission and presentation
Finalists must confirm participation, refine their work, submit the required physical or digital outcome, and attend an online presentation or interview as instructed by the Organising Committee.

Submit standard character sheets, clothing and accessories settings, application-scenario presentation, a character story, process materials, an originality statement and an approximately 30-second dynamic presentation.

Works may be shown through digital screens, exhibition displays, motion clips, posters or online work pages, subject to venue conditions.
- 03
Participants must hold the necessary legal rights or licences for all software, assets, models, fonts, images, music and other resources used.
EVALUATION
What the jury considers
- 01
Preliminary review: concept, originality, completeness of expression, track relevance and development potential.
- 02
Final review: the physical or digital work, creative statement, online presentation or interview, on-site presentation and the characteristics of the track.
- 03
Presentation or interview: understanding of the concept, creative process, materials and craft, styling logic, originality and communication.
- 04
The charter does not publish percentage weightings for individual criteria. Final results are subject to confirmation and official announcement by the Organizing Committee.
ORIGINALITY & AI
Originality and AI-use boundaries
- 01
Digital tools and disclosed AI-assisted expression are permitted, but character development, story background, fashion and accessories styling, visual direction, colour system and final creative judgement must remain student-led.
- 02
Any AI assistance used for visual sketches, motion, scene simulation, rendering, movement reference or other presentation material must be disclosed, including the tool, stage and scope of use.
